Fresnillo plc (or “the Company”) regrets to announce the death of Mr Luis Robles, independent non-executive director of the Company, after a short illness. The Board extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to Mr Robles’ family and would like to take this opportunity to express its thanks for his significant contribution to the Company.
Mr Luis Robles joined the Board of Fresnillo in May 2019, after a hugely distinguished career in the banking and financial sectors during which time he served on various national and international associations, including Chairman of the Latin American Banking Federation from 2010 to 2012 and various roles in the Mexican Banking Association culminating in him being Chairman from 2014 to 2017. Mr Robles also served as the Chairman of Board of Directors of BBVA Bancomer from 2012 until his retirement in September 2018.
Fresnillo plc Chairman Alberto Baillères said:
“We are all deeply saddened by this tragic news. In his short time with Fresnillo, Luis made a huge contribution to the Board. Luis was an outstanding colleague. We will miss his wise counsel, his vast experience, but above all his kindness and friendship. On behalf of the Board, and everyone at Fresnillo, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. Luis, te extrañaremos.”
A new independent non-executive director will be appointed to the Fresnillo Board in due course.
