Azure Minerals (ASX: AZS) has appointed Peter Ingram as an independent non-executive director of the company.

Ingram has a track record of over forty years as a geologist within the mining and mineral exploration industries in Australia.

Ingram was managing director of Universal Resources Limited prior to its merger with Vulcan Resources (NYSE: VMC) and now acts as a non-executive director of the merged entity, Altona Minerals Limited.

In addition he previously held the positions of managing director of Metana Minerals NL, Eastmet Limited and Australia Oriental Minerals (ASX: AOM).


He was also a founding councillor of the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) and is an Honorary Life Member and past President of that organisation.

Tony Rovira, Azure’s Chairman, said “Mr Ingram’s work with AMEC in assisting to establish a peak body for the mining industry is impressive and demonstrates his capacity for leadership and innovation; two qualities highly valued by our team.”

Recent drilling results from Azure’s Promontorio project in Mexico give the company confidence that the size of the resource can be increased by up to 50%. At nearby Cascada, an Exploration Target is on the cards.

At Promontorio the current Indicated and Inferred JORC Resource is; 502,000 tonnes at 4.7% copper, 2.1g/t gold and 99g/t silver.
