Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation could be moving its headquarters to Chicago, a company spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.
“Coeur d’Alene Mines continually evaluates its future needs and growth while also seeking to enhance its visibility among key U.S. and international stakeholders,” stated Stefany Bales. “With this in mind, we are in the process of evaluating the Chicago area as a possible location for our company headquarters.”
“No final decisions in this regard have been made,” Bales wrote in an email.
Coeur d’Alene Mines employs 1,900 worldwide, and 60 in its Coeur d’Alene office on Front Avenue.
The company’s metal sales totaled over $1 billion in 2011, Bales confirmed.
Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation is the largest U.S.-based primary silver producer, and a growing gold producer, according to its website. Its common shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The company operates gold and silver mines in Mexico, Bolivia, Alaska, Nevada and Australia.
It owns strategic minority shareholdings in eight silver and gold development companies in North and South America.
This year, the company expects to produce between 18.5 and 19 million ounces of silver, and between 215,000 and 225,000 ounces of gold.
