JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Precious metals producer Coeur d’Alene Mines said on Thursday production has restarted at its Palmarejo mine in Mexico, following a work stoppage that started at the weekend.

The shutdown would not have a material impact on 2012 output at the operation, which produced nine-million silver ounces and 125 000 oz of gold last year, contributing around 60% of theIdaho-based companies first quarter revenues.

“Palmarejo management acknowledges the critical support and assistance of the Chihuahuan government authorities in helping to bring this situation to a swift and safe resolution,” Coeur said in a statement.

The company announced the stoppage on Wednesday afternoon.

Palmarejo has around 900 employees as well as some 150 contractors.
