Torex Gold Resources shares retreated after the company said it suspended operations in Mexico after three people died its mine.

Shares traded 13% lower, at 27.87 Canadian dollars (US$19.87).

The miner said a carbon monoxide gas exposure killed two employees and one contractor at the El Limon Guajes underground mine.

A fourth employee was also in the area and is currently hospitalized and expected to recover.

Torex Gold said it has notified the authorities and will cooperate fully. It has suspended activities at the mine and plans to launch an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
