Santana Minerals Limited (‘Santana’) is pleased to report highly encouraging results from initial metallurgical test work carried out on composite samples from three drill holes from the Mojardina Prospect at the Company’s flagship Cuitaboca Project. This preliminary testwork resulted in very high silver recoveries using both direct leaching and rougher flotation tests, suggesting the ore is highly amenable to conventional processing methods for silver recovery.

La Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente (Profepa) descartó que la empresa First Majestic Silver Corp sea la responsable del incendio ocurrido en las instalaciones de la mina “La Encantada”, en Ocampo, Coahuila, el pasado domingo 1 que provocó cuatro muertos, pues dijo que éste fue un “accidente laboral”.

Pobladores que bloqueaban el acceso al complejo minero Peñasquito decidieron suspender su medida de fuerza tras casi una semana de una protesta que no afectó la producción del principal yacimiento de oro de México, dijeron el miércoles las partes.

J. Duane Poliquin, Chairman of Almadex commented, “This hole demonstrates further continuity in this part of the Norte mineralised envelope. The Norte Zone is one of several porphyry targets on the property which we plan to aggressively explore and, in the case of Norte, drill in detail with the goal of defining a resource.”

“The prospect of the breccia bodies becoming wider at depth and carrying better silver and gold grades could be an important development for our project as it would lay the foundation for a low cost, bulk tonnage operation,” states Hub Mockler, Executive Chairman. “The recently completed drill program has been very successful in that it showed significant continuity of the Santa Rosa vein which remains open to the northeast, to the southwest and at depth. Also, the suspected presence of several other sub-parallel gold and silver bearing veins has been confirmed. Although the Company is at an early stage of exploration at San Javier, we are extremely pleased with the results to date and firmly believe that the next phase of exploration can be even more productive.”

Igor Gonzales, President and CEO of Sierra Metals stated “The results of the Titan 24 program and the subsequent assay results are exceptional and reflect a high correlation between copper mineralization and the priority targets identified in the geophysical survey. We are excited about the prospects of drilling all the priority geophysical targets and the completion of follow-on drilling on these new discoveries. This program aims to potentially quantify new high-grade zones which is a key strategic objective for our Bolivar mine to better define a path to future development and growth at the Bolivar operations”. He concluded, “We are encouraged by the exploration potential that these results are showing which could lead to further value growth for Sierra Metals in Mexico.”

Radius Gold Inc. is pleased to announce that it has signed a binding agreement with a private Mexican company to option the 473-hectare Tarros Project which is host to several large gold silver mineralized diatreme breccia bodies. The Tarros Project is located 50km north of Radius’s new Amalia discovery in the Sierra Madre Gold Silver belt in the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.

The accident occurred as part of the construction of the 790 ramp at the La Encantada mine. A total of four miners lost their lives due to gas intoxication which accumulated in the area. There was no explosion as other media sources have reported. It is believed the operator of a scoop tram lost consciousness while mucking the area. Three additional miners later arrived to the scene to provide assistance to the ill miner. The four men were carrying all required personal protection equipment, including safety belt breathing apparatuses, but sadly did not use the equipment. The emergency response crew was dispatched and successfully extracted the four miners before transporting them to the local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.
