THE ‘EL CENTENARIO’ GOLD-SILVER PROJECT, DURANGO
The center of the `El Centenario` mineral property is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental, 18 km southwest of Fresnillo PLC’s ´La Cienega´ mine, 20 km south of Great Panther Silver’s ´Topia´ mine and 10 km northwest of Cheasapeake Gold Corp’s 20 million ounce-plus Metates gold-silver-zinc deposit. The property consist of 12 adjoining mineral concessions totaling 9,845 hectares in size that covers an old Colonial-times mining camp containing numerous high-grade Au-Ag prospects and abundant vestiges of small-scale mine workings.
The high-grade gold-silver mineralization found at ´El Centenario´ is associated with epithermal, low sulfidation, fracture-filling vein-stockwork-breccia systems, very similar to Fresnillo PLC´s ´La Cienega´ and Primero Mining’s ´Tayoltita´ mines. Some of the epithermal systems at ´El Centenario´, such as the Santa Margarita vein-breccia structure, contain zones that return exceptionally high gold and silver grades.
So far, more than 20 different epithermal fracture-filling systems, totaling more than 30 km of strike length, have been recognized and sampled and many more remain to be located and evaluated. The quartz-rich epithermal structures are hosted in andesitic to rhyolitic rocks. The mineralized structures vary from 0.5 to 8.0 m in width, exceed 1,000 m of strike length, extend for more than 400 meters at depth and contain grades ranging between 5 and 20 g/T gold and 100 and 2000 g/T silver.
No systematic exploration work was ever done on the ´El Centenario´ property before 2006. Since then, various exploration programs were completed including regional and detail mapping, the collection of more than 1,500 rock samples, a satellite imaging analysis and the completion of a 12-hole, 2,000 meter, diamond-drilling program on one of the main prospects, ´La Esperanza’, a silver-rich, poly-metallic ´La Cienega´-look-alike, mineralized system.
There is moderately-good road access to the property coming in from Culiacan to the west, or Durango to the east. Locally, there’s a good road up to the ´La Esperanza´ prospect which is located at the west end of the property. An exploration base-camp, including 2 trailers, near ´La Esperanza´ is functional and available. Very good relations exist with the local communities who also have a willing, and hard-working workforce to assist in any future exploration endeavors.
The ´El Centenario´ property, with its numerous and extensive high-grade gold-silver structures and the exploration-evaluation work that has been completed on it to date, has the potential to host a world-class, multi-million ounce gold-silver deposit. The property is available for purchase or option.
